The Best Way Of Drilling Stainless Steel Or Non-Ferrous Metals with Magnetic Drills Is With The Vaccum Plate System (ZAV) From BDS Maschinen GmbH.

The magnetic base of a magnetic drill does not function on non-ferrous metals like Aluminum, Aluminum Alloys, Stainless Steel, Copper, Brass, Lead, Zinc, etc. For such non-ferrous material, we have an innovative solution with which one can drill with a magnetic drill.

In simple words, how it works is that the Vaccum plate is placed on the non-ferrous metal to be drilled. A vacuum pump is connected to the vacuum plate which makes the plate to clamp on the metal. The magnetic drill is then placed on this vacuum plate which is ferrous and the magnets get adhered to it. This way the magnetic drill is securely fixed on the vacuum plate and is ready to drill holes in non-ferrous metals. A detailed explanation follows…

4a. ZAV 300: Place the Magnetic drilling machine on the clamping plate. Insert the annular cutter into the magnetic drilling machine, position the pilot pin, switch on the magnet of the magnetic drilling machine and proceed to drill as per the user manual of the magnetic drilling machine.  drilling alluminium with mag drill
4b. ZAV 400: (Drilling Stainless Steel) Place the Magnetic drilling machine on the suction areas of the clamping plate in a position that the annular cutter enters through the internal drilling area of the clamping plate. Insert the annular cutter into the magnetic drilling machine, position the pilot pin, switch on the magnet of the magnetic drilling machine and proceed to drill as per the user manual of the magnetic drilling machine.  drilling stainless steel with mag drill
